Dr. Janet M. Lee

DVM

Growing up in sunny Jamaica, Dr. Janet Lee spent years accompanying her father to Caymanas Park, where he trained race horses. Dr. Lee would assist with the animals’ veterinary needs in whatever way she could. When her family migrated to southern Florida, she continued working with horses at a large equine veterinary practice and the local race course. Despite Dr. Lee’s long, grueling hours, she came to realize something: working in veterinary medicine was her true calling!

Dr. Lee attended the University of Florida to obtain her undergraduate degree in microbiology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She worked at the University’s College of Veterinary Medicine throughout her studies, then took a job in a mixed-animal practice in Lake City, Florida, after graduation. After three and a half years, she moved to Jacksonville and began doing veterinary relief work. However, she soon realized that relief work lacked what she enjoyed most about her profession: having a special place in her clients’ lives as the trusted healthcare provider for their treasured companions.

Dr. Lee then secured a managing position at another local animal hospital, allowing her to get back to her roots as a family-oriented practitioner. Two years later, she purchased the practice. In 2006, she moved to her present location here at Dames Point Animal Hospital. Dr. Lee has professional interests in geriatric medicine and dermatology, but most of all, she enjoys forming personal relationships with her clients and their pets. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Lee enjoys yoga, traveling, and spending time with her two daughters.
